New York City is the city that never sleeps. It’s also a place where you can get lost in the crowd, or find yourself completely alone.

It’s a city for everyone—whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind experience or a place to get lost on your own terms. You can go shopping in SoHo and end up eating dinner at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Chinatown; you can spend an afternoon exploring the city’s best museums and end up at an underground party; you can watch the sunset from the roof of The Empire State Building and then take in an intimate concert at Carnegie Hall.

Whether it’s your first time in the city or your five hundredth, there are so many things to do in New York that it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve put together this list of some of our favorite experiences:

1) Visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. You’ll get an amazing view of Manhattan from Liberty Island and learn all about the history of immigration in America at Ellis Island.

2) Check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This museum has an incredible collection of artworks from all over the world, including medieval European sculptures, ancient Greek vases, and modern paintings by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.

3) Go on a walking tour through Central Park. Learn about the history behind some of New York’s most famous landmarks while enjoying views from above—like Bethesda Fountain and Belvedere Castle—that you won’t find anywhere else!

4) Watch a Broadway show! There’s so many to choose from.

5) Eat your way through Chinatown.

6) Ride the Staten Island Ferry at night.

7) Take an Instagram-worthy photo with Spider-Man at Madame Tussauds New York.

8) Learn how to swing dance with the help of Bruce Lee’s daughter at the Bruce Lee Center in Chinatown.
